With every season brings different exciting things to do. In the hot summer months, there are thousands of people hitting the rivers and lakes to cool off. Rafting, kayaking, tubing and swimming are just a couple of the things you can enjoy during the warm summer months. During fall, the weather is still warm enough to enjoy rafting and kayaking, but what brings the most people to our county during the fall months are the changing leaves. As the leaves begin changing from green, to red, to orange, people flock to the mountains to admire one of nature’s most beautiful changes. Once winter comes around, we have plenty of cabins where you can snuggle up next to a cozy fire and drink hot chocolate.

If you’re not afraid to brave the cold, you can set up camp at one of our campgrounds and enjoy a cool, quiet night under the stars. In the late spring, more and more people begin hiking, biking, camping and taking advantage of the warmer weather. Cherokee County and surrounding mountain areas boast breathtaking spring views that are not as widely known as their fall counterparts. Dogwoods, wild flaming azaleas, rhododendron, and mountain laurel cover the mountains with bright, pastel colors. Spring hiking is a great way to catch a glimpse of rare wild flowers like the Trillium.
